๐ฏ Who is this job for?
Suitable for a Senior Front-End Engineer with 5+ years of React experience and strong expertise in HTML5, CSS3, responsive development, REST APIs, browser internals, web security, and Git.
The ideal candidate should be familiar with building enterprise-grade React applications from wireframes, integrating APIs and headless CMS platforms, and optimizing application performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Experience with Vue.js, Laravel, headless WordPress, WebSockets, DevOps practices, application support, and collaboration with engineers, UX designers, project managers, and stakeholders is highly desirable.
๐ฌ Potential Interview Questions
How would you structure a large-scale React application to keep it maintainable and scalable?
I would organize the application by domain or feature, separating presentation components, business logic, API services, and shared utilities. I would also establish consistent state-management patterns, reusable components, strict linting, testing standards, and clear module boundaries.
How do you optimize the performance of an enterprise React application?
I would profile the application using browser performance tools and React DevTools, then address issues such as unnecessary re-renders, large bundles, slow API calls, and inefficient lists. Techniques include memoization, code splitting, lazy loading, virtualization, caching, and optimizing asset delivery.
How would you integrate a React application with REST APIs?
I would create a dedicated API layer that handles requests, authentication, error normalization, and response transformation. The UI should explicitly manage loading, success, empty, and failure states, while caching and request deduplication can be added with a library such as React Query.
What is the difference between controlled and uncontrolled components in React?
A controlled component stores its value in React state, making validation and synchronization predictable. An uncontrolled component stores its value in the DOM and is accessed through refs, which can be useful for simpler forms or performance-sensitive cases.
How do you make a React interface responsive and accessible?
I use semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, visible focus states, accessible labels, appropriate ARIA only when necessary, and sufficient color contrast. Responsive layouts are implemented with flexible CSS, media queries, mobile-first design, and testing across different devices and viewport sizes.
How does the browser event loop affect asynchronous JavaScript in a React application?
JavaScript executes on the call stack, while asynchronous tasks are handled by browser APIs and later placed in task or microtask queues. Understanding this ordering helps prevent blocking the main thread and clarifies the behavior of promises, timers, fetch requests, and React state updates.
What browser and web security concerns should a senior front-end engineer address?
Important concerns include cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery, insecure token storage, clickjacking, and unsafe third-party content. I would use output escaping, Content Security Policy, secure cookies, proper CORS configuration, HTTPS, input validation, and framework security features.
How would you implement real-time communication with WebSockets?
I would create a connection manager that handles authentication, connection lifecycle events, message validation, reconnection with backoff, and cleanup. Components should subscribe through a shared abstraction rather than opening independent connections unnecessarily.
How would you consume content from a headless WordPress or other headless CMS?
I would integrate through its REST or GraphQL API, define typed content models, and isolate CMS-specific logic in a service layer. The application should handle missing or unpublished content, sanitize rich text, cache responses, and support preview or draft workflows when required.
How would you collaborate with designers and stakeholders when converting wireframes into React features?
I would clarify behavior, responsive states, accessibility requirements, data dependencies, and edge cases before implementation. I would build reusable components, validate the result against the design, communicate trade-offs early, and use Git-based reviews and iterative demos to maintain alignment.
