🎯 Who is this job for?

Suitable for a Senior-level Full Stack Engineer with at least 8 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, or 12 years of experience in lieu of education, who is eligible for a U.S. Public Trust position.

Required skills include strong Java and Spring Boot, TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular or React, Maven, API and data-model design, database optimization, secure data handling, automated testing, and test-driven development; PostgreSQL, AWS, Camunda, AI/ML, and FHIR are advantageous.

The candidate should be experienced in scoping, designing, testing, and delivering medium-to-large features for scalable systems, building backend services and user interfaces, integrating third-party systems, reducing technical debt, and supporting teammates in a collaborative remote environment.

💬 Potential Interview Questions

How would you design a Spring Boot REST API for managing fraud, waste, and abuse investigation cases?

I would define resource-oriented endpoints, DTOs, validation rules, consistent error responses, and appropriate HTTP status codes. I would separate controllers, services, and repositories, document the API with OpenAPI, and include authorization, audit logging, and automated tests.

How would you implement secure and scalable data access with Spring Boot and PostgreSQL?

I would use Spring Data JPA or carefully optimized SQL with transaction boundaries, indexes, pagination, and connection pooling. I would enforce constraints and migrations, protect sensitive data, use parameterized queries, and monitor slow queries and database performance.

What is your approach to test-driven development for a full-stack feature?

I start with failing tests that describe the expected behavior, implement the smallest solution, and then refactor while keeping the suite green. I use unit tests for domain logic, integration tests for APIs and persistence, and frontend component and end-to-end tests for user workflows.

How would you structure an Angular application that consumes backend APIs?

I would organize the application into feature modules or standalone feature areas, shared components, services, and route-level views. API communication would be centralized in typed services, with interceptors for authentication and errors, reactive forms for validation, and clear loading, empty, and failure states.

How do you ensure consistency between TypeScript frontend models and Java backend API contracts?

I would establish an explicit API contract using OpenAPI or a similar specification and generate or validate client types from it. Contract tests and backward-compatible versioning help detect breaking changes before deployment.

How would you optimize a slow case-search operation in a large PostgreSQL database?

I would inspect query plans with EXPLAIN ANALYZE, verify indexes match filtering and sorting patterns, and avoid unnecessary joins and large result sets. I would add pagination, selectively retrieve columns, optimize search predicates, and measure the impact under realistic data volumes.

How would you secure a healthcare-related application handling sensitive case information?

I would apply least-privilege access control, strong authentication, server-side authorization, encryption in transit and at rest, input validation, and comprehensive audit logging. I would also minimize sensitive data exposure, manage secrets securely, and align implementation and testing with applicable government and healthcare security requirements.

How would you deploy and operate a Spring Boot and Angular application in AWS?

I would use automated CI/CD pipelines to build, test, scan, and deploy immutable artifacts, with environment-specific configuration stored securely. Depending on requirements, the services could run on ECS, EKS, or managed platform services, with PostgreSQL on RDS, centralized logging, metrics, health checks, and automated rollback.

When would you use Camunda in a unified case-management system?

Camunda is useful when business processes contain long-running, stateful workflows such as case assignment, review, investigation, approval, and escalation. I would model the process with BPMN, keep business rules and service tasks explicit, and design for retries, idempotency, auditability, and process versioning.

How would you design automated testing for a system with multiple frontend, backend, and third-party integrations?

I would combine fast unit tests with API integration tests, database tests, frontend component tests, contract tests, and a focused set of end-to-end scenarios. External systems should be represented with stable mocks or service virtualization, while CI should publish coverage and test results and prevent regressions from reaching production.
