Job Description

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Principal Full‑Stack Engineer - someone who builds things that matter and leads by example. You’ll write code, define architecture, and help shape our product and engineering culture.

Ready to make an impact? Here’s how you’ll contribute:

• Ship full-stack features - React frontends, backend APIs, data layers, infra scripts, etc.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and raise the bar across the team
• Lead architecture & technical standards without red tape
• Collaborate with product & design to deliver value fast
• Own complex initiatives end-to-end - we trust you to make decisions
• Optimize performance, scalability & reliability without endless meetings
• Troubleshoot production issues and guide incident response

The technical challenges

This isn't CRUD work. You'll be solving real problems:

• Designing and shipping secure integrations - ML prediction engines, LLMs, third-party APIs with strict auth and data handling
• Building high-performance UIs that stay fast under heavy data loads
• Creating dashboards that turn complex datasets into clear, actionable insights
• Scaling a multi-tenant SaaS platform - and shipping on-prem for enterprise customers who need it
• Working with security-sensitive data where mistakes aren't an option

Who you are

You're an engineer who:

• Has 8+ years of professional experience with excellent full-stack skills
• Brings 4+ years working with React (Next.js), Nest.js/Express, GraphQL, Docker, Postgres
• Understands system design and architecture - CQRS, event sourcing, distributed systems
• Builds scalable, secure, production-ready systems and takes ownership of them
• Communicates clearly in English, both written and verbal
• Enjoys working in high-trust, low-bs environments

Bonus points

• You've built real-time data visualizations or analytics dashboards (tailwind, d3, ag-grid)
• You've worked with behavioral data, event streams, or time-series analysis
• You've shipped ML-powered features to production
• You have DevOps/CI-CD chops
$50 - $65 an hour
About Us

At Teramind, we're pioneering a predictive, AI-driven approach to safeguarding organizations' people, data, and operations. As a global leader in user behavior analytics, insider risk management, and workforce intelligence, we empower businesses to transform data into a strategic asset - delivering clear visibility, control, and proactive protection across digital environments.

We're open to hiring in just about every country in the world! Feel free to apply even if you don't live in the country listed in the job description.

Benefits

This is a remote job. Work from anywhere! We’ve been thriving as a fully-remote team since 2014. To us, remote work means flexibility and having truly diverse, global teams.

Additionally:

• Competitive compensation
• Flexible paid time off
• Laptop reimbursement
• Ongoing training, development, and career growth opportunities
• We use an open stack of technologies, so you have the chance to learn and evolve
• High complexity of problems to solve, with active feature development - not just bugs & refactoring
• Collaboration with a forward-thinking team where new ideas come to life, experience is valued, and talent is incubated. You can make an impact quickly.

About our recruitment process

We don’t expect a perfect fit for every requirement we’ve outlined. If you can see yourself contributing to the team, we want to hear your story. You can expect up to 3 interviews, including a live coding component. In some scenarios, we’re able to streamline the process to have minimal rounds. Director-level roles and above should expect a more thorough process, with multiple rounds of interviews.

All roles require reference and background checks

Teramind is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, religion, color, marital status, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.

🎯 Who is this job for?

This role is best suited for a Principal or Senior+ Full-Stack Engineer with 8+ years of experience building scalable SaaS platforms and leading complex technical initiatives end-to-end. The candidate should have deep expertise in React/Next.js, Node.js (Nest.js/Express), GraphQL, Docker, PostgreSQL, system design, distributed systems, and secure API integrations, with strong ownership in architecture, mentoring, performance optimization, and production reliability. They should be comfortable working autonomously in a high-trust remote environment and ideally have experience with analytics dashboards, ML-powered systems, event-driven architectures, CI/CD, and security-sensitive applications.

💬 Potential Interview Questions

  1. How would you design a scalable multi-tenant SaaS architecture?
I would isolate tenant data securely, design services for horizontal scalability, and use strategies like tenant-aware authentication, rate limiting, and configurable deployments for both cloud and on-prem environments.

  2. What are the advantages and tradeoffs of CQRS and event sourcing?
CQRS separates read and write operations for scalability and flexibility, while event sourcing stores state changes as events for auditability and replayability. The tradeoff is increased architectural complexity and operational overhead.

  3. How would you optimize a React/Next.js application handling large real-time datasets?
I would use virtualization, memoization, efficient state management, incremental rendering, WebSockets or streaming where appropriate, and optimize network payloads to maintain responsiveness.

  4. What considerations are important when integrating LLMs or ML prediction services into production systems?
Key concerns include latency, reliability, cost management, prompt validation, security, rate limiting, observability, and ensuring sensitive data is handled safely.

  5. How do you approach backend API architecture in large-scale systems?
I focus on modular service boundaries, clear contracts, scalability, observability, fault tolerance, and maintainable abstractions while balancing business needs with long-term flexibility.

  6. How would you secure sensitive behavioral or analytics data in a SaaS platform?
I would enforce encryption in transit and at rest, RBAC, audit logging, least-privilege access, tenant isolation, and compliance-aware retention policies.

  7. What strategies do you use to improve system reliability and incident response?
I rely on monitoring, alerting, structured logging, health checks, rollback strategies, postmortems, and automated recovery workflows to minimize downtime and improve resilience.

  8. How would you design a GraphQL API for scalability and maintainability?
I would use schema modularization, batching and caching techniques like DataLoader, strict authorization rules, query complexity limits, and strong typing/documentation practices.

  9. How do you decide when to introduce abstractions in frontend or backend systems?
I introduce abstractions only when patterns are stable and repeated enough to justify them. Premature abstraction can increase complexity and reduce development speed.

  10. What qualities are most important when leading engineering initiatives in a high-trust remote team?
Strong ownership, clear communication, technical decision-making, mentoring, and the ability to balance speed with long-term maintainability are critical for success in distributed engineering teams.
