๐ฏ Who is this job for?
Level: Senior Front-End Software Engineer with 7+ years of professional experience and strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
Required skills: Expert React and modern JavaScript, React Hooks, micro front-end architecture, reusable shared components, MaterialUI, Storybook, RESTful APIs, responsive and adaptive design, cross-browser compatibility, and front-end performance optimization.
Suitable tasks: Architecting and modernizing micro-front-end platforms, building sophisticated interfaces from wireframes and style guides, creating reusable tools and frameworks, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams, maintaining code quality and scalability, and mentoring junior developers.
๐ฌ Potential Interview Questions
How would you design a micro-front-end architecture for a large React-based Practice Management platform?
I would define clear domain boundaries, independent deployment ownership, and consistent contracts between micro-frontends. I would also establish shared standards for routing, authentication, state communication, error handling, observability, and dependency management to avoid duplication and runtime conflicts.
What strategies would you use to share components and design standards across multiple React micro-frontends?
I would create a versioned component library using MaterialUI and Storybook, supported by shared design tokens, accessibility guidelines, and usage documentation. Components should expose stable APIs and be released through an automated process with visual and unit testing.
How do React hooks affect component design and performance?
Hooks allow stateful logic to be composed into reusable custom hooks without class components. I would use them carefully, applying memoization only when profiling shows value and ensuring dependencies are correct to prevent stale data, unnecessary renders, or infinite effects.
How would you optimize the performance of a complex React application used across multiple devices?
I would measure performance with browser profiling and production telemetry, then address bundle size, rendering frequency, network latency, and asset loading. Techniques could include code splitting, lazy loading, virtualization, memoization, caching, and minimizing unnecessary context updates.
How would you structure REST API consumption in a scalable React application?
I would centralize API concerns such as authentication, serialization, error handling, retries, and request cancellation in a shared client layer. Server state should be separated from local UI state, with consistent loading, empty, error, and optimistic-update behaviors across features.
How would you use Storybook effectively in a shared component development process?
I would use Storybook to document component APIs, demonstrate states and variations, and validate behavior in isolation from application services. It can also support automated interaction tests, accessibility checks, and visual regression testing in CI.
How would you ensure MaterialUI components remain accessible and consistent with a product style guide?
I would configure a centralized theme with design tokens, typography, spacing, responsive breakpoints, and component overrides. I would verify semantic markup, keyboard navigation, focus states, color contrast, screen-reader behavior, and compliance with established accessibility standards.
How would you manage communication and shared state between micro-frontends?
I would prefer loosely coupled communication through versioned events, URL state, or shared platform services rather than tightly sharing internal component state. Shared state should be limited to cross-cutting concerns such as identity, permissions, and user preferences, with explicit ownership and lifecycle rules.
How would you make a React interface responsive and compatible across browsers?
I would use responsive layouts, flexible grids, progressive enhancement, and tested breakpoint behavior based on real product requirements. I would validate supported browsers with automated and manual testing, use standards-compliant APIs with appropriate fallbacks, and avoid relying on browser-specific behavior.
How would you lead code quality improvements and mentor junior front-end engineers?
I would establish practical standards through code reviews, linting, type checks, automated tests, documentation, and shared architectural patterns. Mentoring would combine pairing, constructive feedback, design discussions, and gradual ownership of increasingly complex features.
