Job Description

Founded in 2010, Leversys provides trading and risk management systems, data products, and related services to leading global investment banks and many of the world’s top 50 hedge funds.

The company is a dynamic, small, flat-structured organization with offices in major global financial centers.

Leversys’s valuation model, systems, and data are recognized as among the market leaders in the convertible bonds space.

Following the launch of the Marketspace platform, Leversys is entering an exciting scale-up phase, aiming to play a leading role in the digitalization of the convertibles market.

This creates opportunities for team members to make a meaningful impact while growing alongside the business as the product offering continues to expand.

As a Senior Software Engineer (front-end), you will:

  • Join a product development team involved in the full delivery lifecycle, from concept and specification through UI design, development, QA, and release.
  • Work closely with product leads to turn ideas and client requirements into shipped features, with real ownership throughout.
  • Collaborate with a small team of senior engineers where knowledge sharing is natural, standards are high, and ideas are encouraged.
  • Follow a structured onboarding plan that combines early codebase contributions, architectural understanding, and exposure to the convertible bond domain.
  • Contribute to a product company that builds and owns its platform, giving your work lasting impact and visibility from problem definition to delivery and growth.
  • Build mission-critical applications for a specialised financial market with an established client base, keeping the engineering work purposeful and technically engaging.
  • Work on both a cloud-based, globally distributed SaaS platform and an on-premises version.
  • Propose and implement ideas rather than simply execute assigned tickets, with engineering input valued throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Grow across the stack with support from experienced engineers and exposure to frontend, backend, services, and integrations.
  • Strengthen your technical expertise while building enough convertible bond knowledge to make better engineering decisions.
  • Gain experience in a specialised financial domain that few engineers encounter, adding long-term depth and market value to your profile.

What we’d like you to bring to Leversys:

  • At least four years of relevant experience as a JavaScript front-end developer.
  • Strong foundation in programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, a major UI framework such as Angular, React, Vue.js, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design principles.
  • Significant experience developing complex, high-quality user interfaces and front-end applications.
  • Ability to build precise, scalable user interfaces from wireframes and UI designs.
  • Familiarity with Git or similar version control tools.
  • Desirable: experience working with RESTful APIs.
  • Desirable: exposure to C#/.NET.
  • Desirable: experience unit testing front-end applications using Jest or a similar framework.
  • Desirable: experience with financial software, large data grids, or data visualisation.
  • A strong desire to learn, develop, and succeed.
  • A commitment to achieving high standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Creativity and passion for building products.
  • Ability to work with complex mathematical and financial concepts.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a structured, logical approach to complex problem-solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field from a leading institution.

In return, Leversys offers you:

  • A genuine opportunity to have an impact and grow your career in established capital markets FinTech.
  • The ability to develop and apply a unique blend of knowledge and skills.
  • The scope to work on exciting and highly dynamic projects and interact with clients.
  • Personal development support.
  • Sponsorship to enhance your skills and continue your education.
  • An effective hybrid working structure.
  • Top of the market remuneration, based on the experience level.
  • Twenty-five days holiday, pro-rata.

This is your opportunity to work with a company that actively looks to its people to take charge, come up with ideas and innovate. We look forward to hearing from you.

🎯 Who is this job for?

This role is suitable for a Senior front-end software engineer with at least four years of JavaScript development experience and a strong background in Angular, React, Vue.js, or a similar framework.

The candidate should be skilled in HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, Git, complex UI development, data structures, algorithms, and preferably REST APIs, front-end testing, C#/.NET, financial software, data grids, or data visualization.

They should be familiar with owning the full product lifecycle, translating wireframes and client requirements into scalable interfaces, collaborating with product and engineering teams, solving complex financial or mathematical problems, and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

💬 Potential Interview Questions

1. How would you structure a complex front-end application using React, Angular, or Vue.js?

I would separate the application into reusable presentation components, feature modules, shared services, and a clear state-management layer where needed. I would also establish consistent conventions for routing, API communication, validation, error handling, and testing to keep the codebase scalable.

2. How do you design a high-performance data grid for large financial datasets?

I would use virtualization, server-side pagination or filtering, memoized rendering, and carefully controlled state updates to avoid rendering unnecessary rows and cells. I would also measure performance with browser profiling tools and ensure sorting, formatting, and updates remain predictable for users.

3. How would you consume and integrate a RESTful API in a front-end application?

I would encapsulate API calls in dedicated services, define typed request and response models, and handle loading, retry, validation, and error states consistently. Authentication, cancellation of obsolete requests, caching, and clear user feedback would also be considered.

4. What techniques do you use to build responsive and precise user interfaces from wireframes?

I start by identifying the layout structure, reusable design patterns, breakpoints, typography, spacing, and interaction states in the designs. I then implement semantic HTML, flexible CSS layouts, and component-level styling while validating the result across browsers, screen sizes, and accessibility requirements.

5. How would you test a front-end component using Jest or a similar framework?

I would test observable behavior rather than implementation details, including rendering, user interactions, validation, loading states, error handling, and API-related outcomes. I would mock external dependencies where appropriate and combine unit tests with integration or end-to-end tests for critical workflows.

6. How would you optimize a JavaScript application with complex calculations and frequent data updates?

I would profile first, then reduce unnecessary work through memoization, efficient data structures, debouncing, batching, and selective component updates. Expensive calculations could be moved to Web Workers or the backend when appropriate, while maintaining accurate and traceable results.

7. How would you visualize financial data while preserving accuracy and usability?

I would define the meaning, units, precision, time zones, and rounding rules before selecting an appropriate chart or visualization. The interface should provide clear labels, tooltips, filtering, accessible alternatives, and consistent handling of missing, delayed, or invalid data.

8. What is your approach to state management in a mission-critical front-end application?

I distinguish local UI state from shared domain state and server state, keeping each as close as possible to the components that own it. Shared state should have explicit actions, predictable updates, normalized data where useful, and clear rules for synchronization and error recovery.

9. How do you maintain code quality and collaborate effectively using Git?

I use small, focused branches and commits, meaningful messages, pull requests, automated checks, and peer reviews. I also keep changes easy to validate, resolve conflicts carefully, and use CI to enforce formatting, linting, testing, and build standards.

10. How would you approach developing a feature that must work in both a cloud SaaS platform and an on-premises deployment?

I would identify deployment-specific constraints early, isolate environment configuration, and avoid embedding cloud assumptions in shared application logic. I would also verify API compatibility, security, performance, upgrade paths, and test the feature in representative environments before release.
