💬 Potential Interview Questions
-
How does Next.js handle server-side rendering (SSR), and when would you use it?
Next.js pre-renders pages on the server at request time, improving SEO and initial load performance. Use SSR for dynamic data that must be up-to-date on each request. -
What are the key differences between CSR, SSR, and SSG in React/Next.js?
CSR renders content in the browser, SSR renders on each request, and SSG generates static pages at build time. Choice depends on data freshness, performance, and SEO needs. -
How do you optimize performance in a React application?
Use techniques like memoization (React.memo, useMemo), code-splitting, lazy loading, and minimizing re-renders. Also optimize assets and monitor Core Web Vitals. -
Explain how Redux works and when you would use it.
Redux is a centralized state management library using a single store and pure reducers. It’s useful for managing complex global state across large applications. -
How do you handle data fetching in Next.js applications?
UsegetServerSideProps, getStaticProps, orgetInitialPropsdepending on the rendering strategy. For client-side fetching, use hooks likeuseEffector libraries like SWR/React Query. -
What are the benefits of using GraphQL over REST?
GraphQL allows clients to request only the data they need, reducing over-fetching and under-fetching. It also provides a strongly typed schema and better flexibility for frontend development. -
How do you ensure accessibility (a11y) in a frontend application?
Follow semantic HTML practices, use ARIA attributes when necessary, ensure keyboard navigation, and test with screen readers. Tools like Lighthouse can help identify issues. -
What testing strategies do you use for React applications?
Use Jest for unit testing and React Testing Library for component behavior testing. Focus on testing user interactions and expected outcomes rather than implementation details. -
How do you improve SEO in a Next.js application?
Leverage SSR/SSG, use proper meta tags withnext/head, optimize images, and ensure fast loading times. Structured data and accessibility also contribute to better SEO. -
How do you monitor and debug frontend performance in production?
Use tools like Grafana, browser DevTools, and Core Web Vitals metrics. Logging, tracing, and real user monitoring (RUM) help identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
