Job Description
As vCluster Labs’ Sr. Software Engineer (UI), you aren’t just building screens; you are defining the user experience for Platform Engineers and the builders of AI factories and Neoclouds. In this role, you will be the owner of the frontend architecture for the vCluster platform, tasked with translating complex Kubernetes and GPU virtualization concepts into intuitive, efficient interfaces that power the next generation of compute.
As a Sr. Software Engineer (UI), your role will include:
-
User-Centric Implementation: Build interfaces that prioritize efficiency, ensuring users can accomplish their tasks quickly and effectively without friction.
-
Platform UI Development: Focus on implementing high-quality UI within the specific context of Kubernetes and the vCluster platform.
-
Modern Stack Execution: Utilize React and Tailwind CSS to build scalable and maintainable frontend components.
-
Design Collaboration: Work to achieve a high standard of UI execution, aiming for the polish and usability found in best-in-class tools.
-
Start-Up Grit: Experience working in a high-growth environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and are willing to build the playbook, not just read it.
This role could be a fit for you if you bring:
-
Experience: 4+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on frontend development.
-
Proven Consistency: A history of longevity, having stayed at a company for at least 2+ years to see projects through to maturity.
-
Technical Aptitude: You possess strong fundamentals in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. While you know frameworks, you understand the core technologies underneath them.
-
Tech Stack Proficiency: Experience working with React and Tailwind CSS (or comparable frameworks).
-
Product Mindset: You define good UI not just by aesthetics, but by how well it enables users to accomplish their tasks efficiently.
Bonus points for:
-
Domain Expertise: Familiarity with the context of Kubernetes, DevOps, or Infrastructure.
-
Component Libraries: Experience using RADIX for UI primitives.
-
Startup Experience: You have been at an early-stage organization where you function autonomously and strive towards building something great.

🎯 Who is this job for?
This role is ideal for a Senior Frontend Engineer (UI-focused) with 4+ years of experience and strong expertise in React, Tailwind CSS, and core web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). It suits someone who enjoys owning frontend architecture, translating complex DevOps/Kubernetes concepts into intuitive interfaces, and building high-quality, scalable UI for technical users. You should be product-minded, comfortable in a fast-paced startup, and able to design efficient workflows, collaborate with designers, and deliver polished, user-centric experiences end-to-end.
💬 Potential Interview Questions
-
How would you design a frontend architecture for a complex platform like Kubernetes UI tools?
I would use a modular, component-driven architecture with clear separation between UI, state, and data-fetching layers. Strong typing and reusable components ensure scalability and maintainability as the platform evolves. -
How do you translate complex infrastructure concepts into intuitive user interfaces?
I focus on simplifying workflows, reducing cognitive load, and presenting only relevant information at the right time. Close collaboration with users and iterative feedback helps refine usability. -
What best practices do you follow when building UI with React and Tailwind CSS?
I create reusable, composable components with consistent styling using Tailwind utilities and design tokens. I also ensure accessibility, responsiveness, and maintainable structure across the codebase. -
How do you ensure performance in data-heavy frontend applications?
I optimize rendering using memoization, virtualization for large datasets, and efficient state updates. Lazy loading and minimizing unnecessary re-renders help maintain responsiveness. -
How do you design frontend systems that scale across teams and features?
I establish shared component libraries, consistent patterns, and clear conventions. Documentation and code reviews ensure teams can extend the system without introducing inconsistencies. -
How would you handle state management in a complex UI interacting with APIs like Kubernetes?
I separate server state from UI state, using structured data-fetching layers and caching strategies. This keeps data flow predictable and reduces unnecessary network calls. -
How do you approach debugging complex UI issues in production?
I analyze logs, network requests, and component behavior using dev tools and monitoring systems. Identifying root causes helps implement targeted fixes and prevent regressions. -
How do you ensure high-quality UI/UX in developer-focused tools?
I prioritize clarity, speed, and efficiency of workflows over visual complexity. Consistent interactions and thoughtful design patterns improve usability for technical users. -
How do you collaborate with designers and backend engineers on complex features?
I align early on requirements, discuss trade-offs, and iterate on solutions collaboratively. Clear communication ensures that both UX and technical constraints are addressed. -
How do you operate effectively in a startup environment with high ambiguity?
I take ownership of problems, make informed decisions quickly, and iterate based on feedback. Balancing speed with maintainable architecture helps deliver value consistently.
