What you will do

As one of our first developers, you will bridge the gap between beautifully designed frontends and scalable backends. You'll tackle the big questions: How do we build systems that scale while maintaining simplicity? What’s the fastest way to ship the right amount of function? And how do we leverage AI in every part of our process? Working fully autonomously alongside our founder and the team, your answers to these questions will directly influence our company's success. On a typical day, your tasks may include:

Owning features across our full stack, writing clean code for both frontend and backend systems
Working directly with commercial teams to architect and implement platform enhancements
Using AI coding assistants and modern development tools to accelerate workflows and maintain code quality
Building robust APIs and integrating AI models into production systems
Designing end-to-end solutions that combine individual data flows into unified models across verticals
Thinking of creative ideas and making bold decisions that shape our technology platform

Who you are

We're looking for creative, ambitious and skilled full-stack engineers who can drive our business with technical solutions. You're someone who doesn't just write code, you translate ideas into software that is easy yet powerful, leveraging AI-enhanced workflows to deliver production-ready MVPs at lightspeed. Typically, your profile will look like this:

Degree in CS or related field with 2+ years of full-time full-stack development experience
Proficient in core programming languages with hands-on experience in modern web frameworks (preferably Node.js/Next.js) and databases
Expert with AI coding tools and development agents as part of your standard workflow
Experience building and deploying production-ready full-stack applications
Strong collaboration skills across commercial, product, and technical teams
Always on the forefront of adopting the latest development technologies
You thrive in a fast-paced and performance-oriented environment

Take-home case study: Real-world project - showcase your skills and working style
Case interview: 90-minute case discussion - present and debate your results with a team member
Founder interview: 90-minute interview with our CEO - going deep on all topics
Team interview: Individual or group interview with other team members - depending on position
Offer, contract signing and onboarding

💬 Potential Interview Questions

When would you choose SSR, SSG/ISR, or CSR in a Next.js app?
SSR for per-request personalization or auth-gated pages; SSG/ISR for mostly-static marketing/content with periodic revalidation; CSR for highly interactive dashboards where SEO is secondary.
How do you design a Node.js API that scales quickly but stays simple?
Start with a layered architecture (routes → handlers → services → repos), add rate limiting and request validation, and keep endpoints idempotent. Horizontally scale stateless services behind a CDN/API gateway.
What’s your approach to integrating AI models into production features?
Wrap models behind typed APIs with clear input/output schemas, stream tokens to the UI, and log prompts/results for evals. Add guardrails (validation, safety filters) and fallbacks for timeouts/errors.
How do you use AI coding assistants effectively without risking security or quality?
Limit them to non-sensitive code, never paste secrets, and review every change with tests and linters. Use them for scaffolding, boilerplate, and refactors; keep core logic human-owned.
How would you model media-related data for scale and simplicity?
Normalize core entities (User, Asset, Playlist, Event) with UUIDs and timestamps; add denormalized, read-optimized views for feeds/search. Index by frequent filters (owner, tags, createdAt) and use a CDN for assets.
How do you implement real-time features (e.g., live counters or collaborative edits)?
Use WebSockets or SSE, broadcast via a pub/sub (e.g., Redis/NATS), and reconcile client state with server truth through versioned events. Apply backoff/reconnect and handle out-of-order messages.
What’s your strategy for secure auth in a consumer app?
Use OAuth/OIDC with short-lived access tokens and refresh tokens, store web tokens in httpOnly cookies, and enforce RBAC/ABAC on the server. Add device/session management and anomaly/rate limits.
How do you keep performance high for heavy media pages?
Optimize Core Web Vitals with next/image, responsive media, preloading critical assets, and code-splitting. Offload heavy transforms to Workers and cache aggressively at CDN and API layers.
Describe an MVP-friendly CI/CD setup for a small team.
Trunk-based development with mandatory reviews, type/lint/test in CI, per-PR preview deploys, and blue-green or canary releases. Track feature flags and error/perf telemetry for fast rollback.
How would you unify disparate data flows into a single view for the business?
Emit domain events from services, ingest to a warehouse (e.g., Snowflake/BigQuery) with dbt models, and expose curated APIs for the app. Keep contracts versioned and transformations tested to avoid drift.
